Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) standing committee member Major (Retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmad has said that Dr. Muhammad Yunus pronounced not a single word on ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s tyranny from 2009 to 2024. Hafiz Uddin Ahmed further said that no Adviser in the interim government’s cabinet spoke out anything about the reign of misgovernance during Sheikh Hasina’s ruling period.
Hafiz Uddin Ahmed made the above comments on Saturday while addressing an event organized in the capital’s Engineers Institution for paying honour to the families belonging to the martyrs of July Revolution.

Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said “The individuals who are now holding Advisor posts in the interim government did not say a single word against Sheikh Hasina’s fascist tenure for last 17 years. Only Dr. Asif Nazrul at times said one or two things about the torment and repression Sheikh Hasina hammered on ordinary people and political opponents.”
“Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus is a globally acclaimed figure but very unfortunately he also remained mum over Sheikh Hasina’s malpractices for last 17 years” Hafiz Uddin Ahmed complained.
Major (Retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed stated that the interim government has so far failed to implement the dreams and desires of the July revolutionaries. Bangladesh has always failed to embody the spirit of heroes, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed commented.
He blamed the government for plotting to divide political parties over the proportional representation (PR) system. Hafiz Uddin Ahmed reiterated BNP’s appeal to the interim government to pave the way for free and fair elections without delay over useless pretexts. Hafiz Uddin Ahmed also deplored Bangladesh Army for sheltering police officers and judges who were straight away supporters of the overthrown autocratic Awami League regime.
